EDWARD R. LEARY began his career in federal law enforcement
and corporate security as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army
Military Police Corps during the Viet Nam era. On discharge from the Army,
he received appointment as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,
and served in the FBI’s Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Detroit
and Philadelphia Field Divisions before selection to the FBI’s Senior
Executive Service. During his law enforcement career, Mr. Leary participated
extensively as an investigator in major public corruption, white-collar
crime, and property c rime investigations. As Assistant
Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s fifth largest field division in
Philadelphia, Pa., he managed both undercover and traditional
investigations that received national media coverage and led to the
prosecution of corrupt public officials, and individuals involved in
financial crimes and major frauds against the government. Mr. Leary held a
number of Senior Executive positions in the FBI, including FBI Personnel
Officer; Special Assistant and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Director; and
Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI’s Administrative Services Division.
Following his retirement from federal law enforcement, Mr. Leary joined a
major credit card brand as a Director of Physical Security. Before
launching E. R. Leary & Associates, LLC, he also served as a Senior
Vice President of a security consulting firm headquartered in Northern
Virginia which specializes in complex due diligence inquiries,
intelligence gathering and analysis, risk assessment, physical and
information security surveys, and crisis management planning. Mr.
Leary's professional memberships
include: the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI;
INTELLENET -- a
world-wide network of investigators and security consultants; and the Private Investigator's
Association of Virginia (PIAVA). He has also served as a part-time
member of the faculty of the Administration of Justice Program at George Mason
University, Fairfax, VA. |
